What was the highlight of Hotel Don Pablo Villasana de Mena

There is nothing outstanding to say about this Hotel Don Pablo. It was at least clean, but that is the minimum to be expected.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a receptionist who was less than impressed with our arrival. She was visibly annoyed with us, and made no attempt to disguise the fact. After several vocal signs of her annoyance, we were dispatched to our room. Contrary to the description on the website and in the email we received, the room had no fridge, no minibar, no balcony, it was not peaceful, as it was directly next to the main road, and no commanding views of the region. The sellotaped remote control for the television did not work. Upon closer inspection we discovered that the batteries inside were corroded. Also for the first time in our lives we had to share one, 2-metre long pillow.

A stop on the Camino Olvidado
They left us pinxtos to eat and the next day breakfast was good. We were able to get bocadillos with tortilla de patata for our long walk between services.
We were there on Palm Sunday, so this may not be a typical day. The restaurant and bar were closed.

Nice Bedrooms - the remainder is very average indeed
The Bedrooms were very comfortable and clean and had air conditioning
I was booked in for 4 nights - on the 2nd day a knock at my door told me I had to move immediately because I was in the room suitable for Disabled and they needed it for a new guest. There were many rooms available, so why was I given this particular room in the first place?! No apology, or a free meal or anything. I had to move all of my unpacked posessions 15m up the corrider which is a pain once you have already got settled into a room. You do not eat in the advertised Dining Room - you eat in a hot cafeteria type room which is also the Public Bar - the air conditioning even in July/Aug is only switched on as a very last resort!! They let it get unbearable before it goes on even when I asked them they wouldn't.There are many flies in the room and they have the radio on too loud. The food is rather greasy and certainly not what the advert shows in the retaurant which was never open for my use. The Barman is very pleasant and friendly as is the man in reception - most other staff are grumpy and rude, especially the Barmaid.
